I found myself near the top of Francis Peak yesterday.  It was a beautiful sunrise, but unfortunately, the only camera I had was my Iphone.   This is a shot using the Iphone's HDR and Panorama features.

It's been a while since I posted.  I had my camera at the parade today and caught a picture of the trombone line.

Before I bought my iPhone 5 I watched the "Cheese" advertisement on apple.com: http://www.apple.com/iphone/videos/#tv-ads-cheese I thought it looked like a cute gimmick that would really have little practical use. However, they may have changed my mind.  I gave it a try the other day and I was very impressed. This is a shot from Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake, looking west at sunrise.  I didn't have my Canon with me so I decided to see what the phone could do.  Not bad.  I took this with the HDR mode on and in panorama mode.  It is amazing how well it stitched the photos together.   I had to crop it and clean up the colors in Aperture a little bit, but other than that, this is pretty much how it came out of the camera.

Can you take great pictures on an iPhone 5?  I'm not sure, but here is my attempt.  This was done in the Panorama mode with the HDR on.  The picture is taken on the south end of the island looking north-west.  It is not cropped or edited.  This is how it came out of the phone.
