The agony of defeat

DC Rugby sophomore team lost the state championship against Highland on May 15th.  They had a great season! Undefeated going into the final game of the season.  It has taken a while for me to get the photos processed.  Here are a few shots from the game.

Old Barn

I don't want to be known as the guy who takes pictures of old barns, but I have to admit that I think old barns are cool.  This one is especially cool with a hole in the roof. There is nothing special about this photo.  It is just a 3 shot photomatix HDR bracketed at +/- 2 stops at F8.  I messed with the saturation, contrast and sharpness a bit.

May snow?!

Snow in May? Tes it snowed today. Here is a quick shot with my Iphone at Ft. Douglas. LBP

DHS Jazz

I went to the Davis High School Jazz concert last night.  They were outstanding.  I wish I could say the same about my picture.  I have a lot to learn about taking photographs in an auditorium.  This was with my EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS Canon Lens.  I had the aperture wide open and the ISO at 1600.  The exposure is all over the place and even with IS turned on the shutter wasn't fast enough to stop the action.

Seagull

What I learned from this shot is that taking pictures of birds in flight is a lot harder than I thought.  Particularly if you are using a 300mm lens because they aren't in the frame very long.

State Rugby Finals

A great win for the DC Rugby Sophomore squad!  They bested Lowlands 40-5.  On to the quarter finals!

Weekend Project

This actually took me a couple of weekends. I moved into a new office and it didn't have a coat rack. So I built my own. I had some knotty alder leftover from my last project that worked out perfectly.
