My first DSLR camera. What should it be?
I have been doing some research on DSLR cameras. There are lots of good choices. Many years ago I had a Canon AE-1. I really enjoyed the camera, but after watching it sit unused on a shelf for several years I sold it at a garage sale. Now I want to get back into it. There are several people at work who are Nikon fans so I started there first. But I keep coming back to the Canon.
Someone showed me this interesting set of statistics. Flickr Camera Finder It looks like Canon is one of the more popular cameras. The trouble is that once you start with one brand you are kind of stuck with it. So I want to make the right choice.
One thing I really want to do is some HDR photography. So, I would need a camera that does auto bracketing.
After lots of comparing and discussions with friends who have DSLRs, I leaning toward the Canon XS. I'm thinking that I will save a bit of money on the body and then throw a bit more cash at a bet…

A few weeks ago I borrowed a Nikon D40 while I was out at lunch taking a walk. I got lucky and took these two pictures. Not much creativity here. Full auto with the closeup setting.

Here we go!

I don't know why I have a blog, but here we go! Everyone else has a blog, so I guess I should have one too. Here is my first post. This is a picture that I took at Marsh Lake. I took it with a Canon A540. (Yes, I want a better camera that auto brackets). It was a single jpg image that we uploaded into bridge. Changed the exposue +-2 and then remerged the 3 photos in Photomatix. Finally I did a bit of work in Photoshop to fix a few of the colors. Here it is:
More to come . . . (I hope)
